Macaroni with Cheddar Cheese
  1. 8 oz pkg Elbow Macaroni
  2. 1 teaspoon Salt
  3. 4 T Margarine or Butter
  4. 1/4 teaspoon Pepper
  5. 4 T Flour
  6. 1 cup Sharp Vermont Cheddar, shredded
  7. 2 cups Milk
  8. Bread Crumbs or crumbled Crackers
Cook macaroni as directed. Melt margarine or butter. Add flour and season and blend. Add milk slowly and cook at low temperature until thick and smooth. Make sure to stir constantly. Add cheese. Stir until melted. Place macaroni in 2 quart baking dish. Pour cheese sauce over noodles and mix well. Sprinkle with crumbled crackers or bread crumbs. Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes until mixutre is bubbly and just starting to brown. Makes approximately 6 single servings.
